Shani has been in foster nearly 6 weeks now and she’s slowly coming out of her shell more and more each day, she will need an understanding home who has lots of patience to gain her love and trust
When she came to us she was very scared and nervous and couldn’t handle touch what so ever! Over the past few weeks she has slowly come round to being touched and realised that not everyone wants to hurt her. She’s gone from cowering in the corner to now being bouncy and excited to see you when you enter a room. She will happily come to you but will still at first cower down when you try to stroke her, although once she’s getting attention and being stroked she is so loving. Shani has got a little mischievous side to her and likes to steal things to tries to chew if she can get away with it 🤣.
She is currently living with 3 other dogs and loves the company of the other dogs and will follow their lead, as well as going in with play with the younger resident dog. For this reason l would say she needs other doggy company in her new home. There is also 2 young children in the house who she has been absolutely brilliant with. Only thing I would say is that she can be jumpy when the kids are running round so maybe calmer kids would be better for her.
Shani has been out on the lead with a harness on a couple of times but this is very much work in progress, as it’s all new. She’s very unsure of traffic and people and refuses to walk without a dog friend leading the way. So it’s very slow and steady with her but she does love an open field.
Toilet training is also work in progress and will need to be continued in new home.
All in all, Shani is an absolutely adorable little lady who will love you as much as you love her. She’s come along way in the short space of time she’s been here but I feel she’s ready to move on and gain the trust and love of her forever family🤍
